Sauna Facility

The Traditional Sauna

Western cedar interior room with two large stoves reaching temperatures up to 85-90’C. Varying tiers allos heat-bathers to choose their comfort level with the hottest tiers being at the top. Bench width allows either sitting or lying down at your desired tier.

The Infrared Heating Room

This smaller sauna encourages sweat by warming from the inside out. This technology allows sweating to occur at a lower ambient heat and is a great alternative for those who find the traditional sauna too warm. This sauna also has the option of colour therapy for those seeking to introduce a range of colours into their grey Vancouver Island palette.

The Wet Area

A vital part of the cycle. After you have heated up in the sauna, cooling off in one of our cold water options is a tried and true tradition that cleanses the body and jolts your full body into a cooler state and equilibrium. Today we call it ‘cold water therapy’ or the ‘Wim Hof Method’. Choose from a gentle mister, a cool shower, a cold pull-chain shower, or an ice-cold bucket shower.

The Cold Plunge

Need a little more? Experience the exhilaration of a cold plunge after a sauna session. Cold water submersion helps your body and muscles recover, helps with inflammation, and takes the sauna enjoyment to the next level. The plunge bath is included in The Banya Experience and can be added to The Deluxe Sauna Circuit.

The Rest Spaces

One of the most crucial parts of the sauna experience is to rest in between sauna sessions. Everyone has different ways of relaxing and sometimes a break or a quiet visit with friends is just what you needed. Chairs, tables, benches, and loungers are available at The Lost Faucet to help your body recover and prepare for the next cycle of heating, cooling and resting. Still too hot? Try relaxing on the outdoor patio.

The Refreshments

Both refreshing and calming drinks available to help hydrate, quench a sweet-tooth, or just pass the time.

The Shop

All our products complement your sweat or take the warmth home with you. Imported soaps, shower mists, scrubs, luxury flip flops, and sauna hats are available to enhance your sauna experience or remind you of being at The Lost Faucet at home.

Add-ons

The Foot Soak

A long-standing pre-sauna tradition. Soothing salts, oils, and warm water make a foot soak the preferred first step for many heat-bathers. Foot soaks improve circulation thereby expediting sweating in the sauna and afford heat-bathers a quiet moment to let go of their day before entering the sauna. An excellent lower heat option. Add-on to your sauna session for $5.

The Body Scrub

To complement the deep cleansing sauna, many enjoy a full body exfoliation. Since the body’s pores are opened by the sweating process, a natural scrub can provide an extremely satisfying clean. Just rub over skin, let the natural exfoliants do their work, and rinse. Add-on to your sauna session for $5.

The Bamboo Whisk

With its more durable qualities, tapping your sore muscles with a bamboo whisk offers a surprisingly effective massage. Work sore knots out by tapping the bamboo whisk in the sauna. Working with the heat to loosen muscles, this light massage provides a faint residual sensation after your cold shower. Add-on to your sauna session for $5.

The Facial Mask

A face that has been in the sauna will reap the benefits of a facial mask more than at room temperature. A variety of masks/scrubs are available for different skin types. A little extra special care for the most defining part of yourself. Add-on to your sauna session for $5 / $7

The Infusion

A complimentary service. Water or ice is infused with scents and is then placed over the hot rocks resulting in a glorious burst of aromatic humidity and warmth. Infusion aromas may include mint, forest, birch, pinetar, eucalyptus, and more.

The Aufguss

A complimentary service. German saunas have perfected the art and ritual of Aufguss and The Lost Faucet is proud to be the first sauna on Vancouver Island to offer this complimentary, in-sauna service. Aroma infused water or ice is placed on the hot sauna rocks.  The Aufgussmeister then wafts a towel dispersing the humid warmth around the sauna, increasing the overall heat. Music, lighting and aromas create a multi-sensory experience. Repeating the addition of water on the stones during an Aufguss increases the intensity of the heat experience. This is a must have for all heat-seekers. Going through an Aufguss together is a bonding experience.
